The Falmouth Artists Guild received notice on Valentine's Day that it had been awarded a grant of $240,000 from the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund. Carolyn Partan, Chair of the Guild's Capital Campaign, said that with this grant, the Guild has the funds to begin construction of its new community art center. MARCH 9, Potluck Luncheon & Art Show Opening: From Soup to Nuts
There will be a potluck luncheon at 12:30, prior to the art show opening at 2:30pm - 4pm. The potluck is the perfect prelude to "From Soup to Nuts." MARCH 15 Wearable Art Fashion Show
This event begins at 11:30 AM and will again be held at the First Congregational Church, 68 Main Street, Falmouth where it has been a huge success. Chef Roland will be preparing a delicious luncheon which will be served to seated guests. This year, guests are encouraged to wear their favorite Spring bonnets. There is a silent auction as well. Tickets are $30; buy your tickets now!
The Wearable Art Fashion Show Artisans Include baabaa ZuZu - 100% recycled and boiled vintage wool assembled to create jackets and vests, individually created by Sue Burns, brought to us by Kindreds Antiques and Folk Art Gallery, Osterville. There's Michelle Fairbanks of Osterville who creates "one-of-a-kind" designs makde from vintage fabric and antique laces. She specializes in antique lace wedding gowns. Nicki Garner of East Falmouth has hand-painted and embellished a denim "Angel' jacket. Anatassia Gonye of East Falmouth is bringing her new "Tuff Cookie" cotton spring hat collection that she is sewing at this moment. Kathy Hall of Falmouth has hand-painted two jackets that "POP!" James Musto has donated two contemporary necklaces that are works of art. And that's not all...
