Enthusiasm High At Jeff-Jackson Dinner
A sagging economy and off-year election inertia may have combined to keep attendance and receipts down from last year, but all hands considered the CIDC's annual Jefferson-Jackson Day Dinner a rousing success thanks to audience enthusiasm and an outstanding array of speakers.
The May 2 dinner at the Radisson Hotel in Hyannis drew 272 paid guests, down 15 percent from last year's record 321. Silent auction receipts showed an 11 percent drop. But the dinner still netted $5,066.50, according to dinner chair Diane Parvin, even as the committee absorbed a slight increase in the hotel fee in order to maintain the $35 ticket price.
