New Falmouth Art Center
CONSTRUCTION IS UNDERWAY AT THE NEW FALMOUTH ART CENTER! The Falmouth Artists Guild is delighted to announce that construction has begun on its new home at the corner of Gifford Street and Dillingham Avenue. Thank you to everyone who has made this day possible! Come celebrate with us at the groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, September 26, - details below.
The new Art Center will significantly expand the Guild's classroom and gallery space and allow the Guild to expand its creative outreach to the community by increasing its offerings. With the new Center, the Guild will be able to have classes and workshops in a greater variety of media, at various levels from beginner to advanced, and with additional times to better serve working people and others.
Designed by Giampietro Architect in a shingle Cape style, the Art Center will provide 4,300 square feet of space on the first floor with room for expansion. There will be easy access to the Art Center's property with its many mature trees for en plein air painting. The general contractor, V and V Construction Co., Inc., expects to have the Art Center completed in the spring of 2009.
To date, more than 500 individuals, businesses, and organizations have contributed to the capital campaign, with significant contributions by Christopher Wise of Wise Living who donated the two-acre site, the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund (jointly administered by the Massachusetts Cultural Council and MassDevelopment), the Hermann Foundation, TD BankNorth Charitable Foundation, and four very generous anonymous donors.
Come celebrate with us at a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, September 26 at 10 AM, at the site, with coffee and tea following at the Nimrod Restaurant on Dillingham Avenue. All members, donors and friends of the Guild are welcome. Please carpool and park at the Nimrod. Thank you David Kelley for the attached photos of the lot being cleared September 11.
